In agriculture, microbes play a very important role. The soil microbes can decompose organic matter. There are different types of microbes for different types of organic matter. Microbes help inn recycling of old plant materials by returning nutrients to their minerals form, which can be used by another plants this process is called mineralization. Some bacteria and fungi forms relationship with plant roots which provides important nutrients to like nitrogen and phosphorus and help to convert atmospheric nitrogen to ammonia. When the soil microbes broken down organic componds which is called humus, which is a substance help the soil to retain moisture and encourage the formation of soil structure. Many other substance like phosphorus, gums and glycoproteins secreted by microbes help in forming soil structure. They also promote plants growth as they can produce auxin, gibberilins and antibiotics etc. Many microbes also involve in control of pests and diseases. Example Baccillus thringiensis involve to control caterpillar pests crops.
