The narrator adressed the two boys as gentleman because they sell strawberries outskirts of the city And yeah at this small age they have responsibility of their sister Lucia but instead of doing bad things like robberies or anything they do good things to earn money.

because they were having all qualities of gentleman they were senciour, hard working, serious about there job, they didn't ask for help, done all kind of jobs and also help narrator ni many ways even they were selling newspaper at mid night and waiting for last bus at derserted sqare they were very caring also they look aftef there sister this show all qualities of the gentleman in both of thme
