Mumbai is established on the windward front, whereas, Nasik has dwelled on the leeward front. In ge-ographical terms, Windward points to the direction through which the south-west monsoon blows ac-cost the land from the sea. On the other hand, the term Leeward indicates the area that is shielded from these blows by a natural fence. As a result of their geographical locations the Nasik receives much rain than Mumbai, which is shielded by the hills of Western Ghats. This area is drier, for this reason, this is called the rain-shadow.
