Why does the overall current decrease when the overall resistance increases in a series circuit?

because V = IR
as V is constant for a battery , if we increase resistance , current decreases.

The overall current decrease when overall resistance increases this is because as the the objects connected to it are in series and as resistance is referred as an obstacle in the path of current so when it faces first object it decrease and then the decreased current flows to another object
