why does the poet draw an illutio to albatross in poem THE SNAKE

because just like the mariner and other people on the ship suffered from the death of albatross the poet also fears that the snake might come back to take its revenge and the poet will also have to suffer...just like the albatross was hunged in the neck of the mariner and all creepy spirits came and haunted them...the poet fears the same..
