poet is tottaly confused whether he should follow according to human education or basic human instincts
human education urges the poet to break off the snake, to kill it while instinct tell him to remain as a mere second-comer and the poet to feel honored.
thus he has conflicting emotions for the snake
but, at last, the human education triumphs over instincts.

Because he was inspired by his beauty but his colour showed that he was a venemous snake that must be killed
