The poet didn;t actually mention death as a slumber. The summary of the poem is as below.

The poet William Wordsworth was in a slumber ( a deep sleep ) when his beloved died. The name of his beloved is not mentioned. He compares his beloved to nature- to trees and rocks. He says that his beloved has died and has become an inseparable part of nature and now she is also rotating and revolving around the sun with the earth, just at the earth does.

Thanks!

Answer:

The poet admits that he was in a sort of a deep sleep because he did not fear the harsh reality of life. He had taken life for granted and had never thought that one day death could separate him from his beloved.
