Juliet Wilson'spoem "The Lost Dances of Cranes" reflects on the changeover from endangered species to the development of cities via constructioncranes. Dancing is part of the mating rituals of whoopingcranes. Since so many birds have been lost, theywould be only memories—ghosts.
