Why does the protein biochemical activity is not changed with addition of histidine tag?

The biochemical activity of protein does not change when Histidine tag is added.

This is because the tagged protein builds a shield on HIS-tag and thus the purification fails to work properly.

If a heavy metal binds to the HIS-tag, then it could change the biochemical activity of the protein.
