The rainfall decrease from the east to the west in the Northern India because both eastern and western part of India receive rainfall from the Bay of Bengal branch of the monsoons. As the Bay of Bengal reaches the Eastern Parts first ,so the Eastern parts receive more Rainfall as compared to the western parts.
Secondly the Western parts are away from the Sea . So the monsoons winds get drier and cause less rainfall.
Kolkata gas an annual rainfall of 162 cm , Patna 102 CM, Allahabad 91 cm and Delhi gets 56 CM of rainfall.
