respiration is a exothermic reaction because respiration means oxidation of glucose in the cells leading to its decomposition in a series of reactions ,carried out by enzymes present in the cells.
C6H12O6+ 6O2---------------> 6 CO2 +6H2O +Energy

the reaction is taken out by release of energy,so respiration is called an exothermic reaction .
hope it helps u:-)
