naplthene is in a solid when we keep it in open sublimation occurs because of which it is converted into gaseous form

It is a direct conversion os substance from solid to gas state without undergoing in liquid state
this occurs mostly in open
and napthalene ball is of sublimate nature
therefore....
it sublimated and gets smaller with time
