Why does the skin of your fingers shrink when you soak it in water for a long time?

Answer:

Soap is a hypersonic solution and contain high amount of salt dissolved in it.Our skin is porous and behaves has semi permeable. When the cell is immersed in this solution. Water is diffuse by the osmosis because of lower concentration of water outside the cell. This causes cell to shrink. This is known as exomosis. while we take bath or wash clothes, utensil this process take place which lead to shrinkage of cell in the skin.
