Loosening of soil can improve air circulation. The roots can penetrate deeper into the soil, thus holding the plant firmly. Ploughing enhances the water retention capacity of the soil. Ploughing uproots the weeds growing in the field and aids in the growth of microbes.

Explanation:

The soil should be ploughed thoroughly before sowing of the seed as this helps the roots to penetrate deep into the soil. ... Another advantage of this method is that the particles of weeds will be uprooted completely from the soil. This also helps in the growth of benefitial bacteria.
