When alkali metal is dissolve in liquid ammonia then it lose electron and now alkali metal ion as well as electron get solvated by ammonia molecule
Colour of solution is because of ammoniated cations(alkali metal ion) and magnetic character because of amotivated electron
When concentration of ammoniated electron increase then pairing start and solution become diamagnetic
