Because of the tilt of the earth on its exis when the North pole is tilted towards the sun, the northern hemisphere experiences summer solstice.At this rime since the southern hemisphere is tilted away the sun the souther hemisphere experiences winter solstice.That is why, when it is summer in the nother hemisphere, it is winter in the souther hemisphere. It's is all because of the earth is tilted on its axis.
