sun is at horizon during sunrise and sunset
so that only red light can scatter threw far distance so that we are able to red light from far...
other lights scatter throgh the dust particles,etc...

Answer:Due to scattering of light
Explanation:
This situation can be explained using Rayleigh's scattering law.
Scattered intensity of light is inversely proportional to fourth power of its
wavelength
As,light have to travel a long way during sunrise and sunset, most of the short wavelength colours are scattered(blue, violet etc.)
Red,possessing a long wavelength does not get scattered and that's what we see!
