Sunlight is made up of seven diff, colours named VIBGYOR with increasing wavelength during sunrise and sunset sun is at horizon and apparently at large distance from observer hence sunlight has to travel long path to reach the observer while travelling the path other colour having less wavelength get diffracted and the light reaching the observer is mainly in orange and red hence sun appears reddish at the time of sunrise and sunset

We know about atmosphere that it have many layers, like stratosphere and so on.

Reddishness of sun occurs only if the sun is at the horizon of revolving earth.

The light entering the earth suffers scattering, since, red light have high wavelength it scatters least. While other color spreader at such a level that they get disappeared and only red light left from the sunlight.

Similarly during sunset this phenomenon occur.
