It is because the red has the longest wavelength among other colors in the spectrum of light. Which means that red is the color which reaches our eyes first

In early morning, the sun is below the horizon and the light rays coming from the sun has to travel more. When the violet and the red light comes from the sun, due to long distance from the observer the violet light scatters in the surrounding whereas the red light does not and travel more. That's why the sun appears reddish in the early morning
