Why does the sun appears red in the morning

In early morning (at the time of sunrise) when the sun is near the Horizon, the sunlight has to travel the greatest distances through the atmosphere to reach us.During the long journey of Sunlight most of the blue colour and shorter wavelength present in it is separated out and away from our line of sight. So, the light reaching us directly from the Rising Sun consists mainly of longer wavelength red colour due to which the sun appears reddish early in the morning.

Hope this will help you ^_^

The red light has a wavelength about 1.8 times greater than blue light .the colour of the scattered light depends on the size of the scattering particle .very fine particles that mainly blue light while particles of large size scatter light of longer wavelength .If the size of the scattering particles is large enough then the scattered light may even appear white .light from the sun near the horizontal Axis passes through thick layers of air and large distances in the earth's atmosphere before reaching our eyes .however light from the sun overhead would travel relatively shorter distance .and therefore in the morning sun appears red but at noon the sun appears white as only a little of the blue and violet colours are scattered .near the Horizon most of the blue light and shorter wavelengths of scattered away by the particles .therefore The Light That reaches our eyes is of longer wavelengths .this gives rise to the reddish appearance of the Sun .
