The tail of comet comprises of solild particles of dust and particles of ionised gas. When the comet revolves around the sun, its tail always points away from the sun. It is because of the solar radiation and solar winds. The light particles { packets } strike the tail of comet and makes it point away. it is because of the radiation of heat directly hitting the comet
and so the material of comet gets washed away by the rays
naturally that would point outwards from the sun and that is the tail of comet
