the the temperature does not change when ice melts to form water because the heat energy is supplied to the eyes health in increasing the potential energy that is it helps in increasing the molecular distance between the particles and does the kinetic energy remains zero which states that the temperature is not changing.

The temperature did not changed when ice melts to form water as that heat is used by ice to overcome the forces of attraction between the ice molecules . And this Hidden heat is known as Latent heat of fusion .
