The temperature remains constant as all of the heat energy is used to break the intermolecular bonds of attraction.

During a phase transition such asmelting a solid to a liquid thetemperature remains constant. At any lower temperature the heat provided went to kinetic energy and intermolecular potential energy.
hope it helps
