Why does the temperature of a substance remain constant during melting and boiling even when heat is being supplied to it continuously?

In melting the temperature will remain constant till the solid changes into liquid nd in boiling it will remain constant till it vaporises completely because heat transfer cannot be there immediately.......hope it helps u

Because that heat energy is spent on breaking the intermolecular force of attraction due to which its state changes and when it reaches to its final state then only the heat energy will increase the temperature
