Why does the temperature of the substance remains constant during its melting and boling point.

it is because substance make use of latent heat of fusion to overcome force of attraction between particles of solid to change into liquid during melting and latent heat of vaporization to overcome force of attraction between particles of liquid to change into vapours during boiling point .

Because the heat energy is used to convert the state of object.

Remember latent heat of fusion.
