Deserts are full of Sand.
Sand has a property which makes it hot and cold faster than many other substances as it comparitively requires less heat to change its temperature.
Since, it gets heated up and cooled down so fast, it also heats and cools up the air quickly, which in turn, changes the temperature of the deserts quickly.
Hence, the temperature of desert gets too hot in morning and too cold in the evening.
