Water hyacinth float on bloated air-filled hollow leaf stalks. The oxygen bubbles float to the surface of water and get released into the air which provides buoyancy.

The reason for the floating of water hyacinth on water is given below :
1. The parenchyma tissue that is found in water hyacinth has huge cavities that are filled with air. These cavities makes their whole body light and thus makes them able to float.
2. This tissue having large cavities is termed as or known as arenchyma type or kind of tissue.
3. Buoyancy is provided to water hyacinth by this tissue and thus makes it able to float.
