According to Lindberg
R is directly proportional to 1/λ⁴ where R is the rate of dispersal of any colour and λ is the wavelength of the colour. This was corrected by Raman where the wavelength of emergent is different from that of the original ray.
Since Violet, Indigo and Blue colur has short wavelengths, they disperse first and sky appears blue.
This reflection falls on water which is hypothetical reflector and water appears blue, known as Raman effect.
