The water level:

  • The rainy season marks the highest rainfall in an area. It increases the water levels in all the water bodies, be it pond, lakes, or wells. The water levels of wells also increase even when the well is covered. This is because the water level of the well doesn’t increase because of rainwater that drops from the top.
  • But, because of the increase in underground water level. This level increases because of the seeping of water through the topsoil layer into the rock layer underground. This increases the water storage there, which is in turn expressed by an increase in water level of all the ponds, lakes, and wells.
