Thiruvanathapuram experiences moderate type of climate as it is located adjacent to water bodies, viz. Arabian Sea on its west, and the Western Ghats mountain range ton its eastern side. Moreover, the highland areas and the nearby coastal areas are only 35 km away from each other. And the city area as well is situated in midlands so it experiences a pleasant climate round the year.

Answer:

Thiruvananthapuram has an equable climate because of its closeness to the sea. The sea exerts a moderating impact on the climate of the region.

1) Monsoon has its tendency to have ‘breaks’ in rainfall.

2) Thus, it has wet and dry spells.

3) In other words, the monsoon rains take place only for a few days at a time.

4) They are interspersed with rainless intervals.

5) These breaks in monsoon are related to the movement of the monsoon trough.
