Thomas Hobbes was an English philosopher. His vision of the world is relevant to contemporary politics. He sought a social and political order where human beings could live together in peace and avert the danger and fear of civil conflict.
He believed that
the power in commonwealth should not be divided. Division of the sovereign power
is plainly contrary to the essence of a commonwealth. Divided powers tend to
destroy each other so the division of the power of a commonwealth will result in the dissolution
of the commonwealth.
