Why does time-delation occur in space??

I don't know for sure l but space-time are rated to each other.For instance if we are able to reach the speed of light the time for us nearly reduced then the others who are at the normal speed.This perhaps a wonderful phenomenon of the universe explained by Eienstein and Hawking's.
