Why does unemployment have a detrimental effect on the overall growth of an economy?

As we know that India is highly populated so it is not possible to employ each and every person also corruption obstructs the path of employment. When people donot get employment the start doing their own business or adopt the path of crime and due to this all India need to face major economic problems and still no India is facing poverty. We can demolish it at once but we need to take certain steps to stop it

Since economy of a state depends on its income and if people are unemployed they will not earn .To face their needs people starts doing odd jobs and starts taking part in crimes.
There fore unemployment have a detrimental effect on the overall growth of an economy .
