Why does voltmeter practically not consume any electric energy in a circuit?

THE VOLTMETER MEASURES THE POTENTIAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2 POINTS.AND IT DOESNT CHANGE THE CURRENT THROUGH THOSE 2 POINTS AND IT HAVE VERY HIGH RESISTANCE AND HENCE IT CANT CONSUME THE CURRENT FROM THE CIRCUIT
