Answer:

the water looks blue because red orange yellow which have shorter wavelength are absorbed more strongly by water than is blue so it gets reflected by the water and appears blue in colour. that is why even sky appears blue.

Answer:

This is because when white light enters the ocean, water absorbs red, yellow and orange colour light (light of long wavelengths) and reflect blue colour light. So we see the reflected light. That's why ocean water seems to be of blue colour.

This phenomenon occured due to dispersion.

Dispersion is scattering of white light into its constituent colours.

White light (on scattering) gives 7 colour which are as follows : Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red.

The wavelength of light increases from Violet to Red.

Least scattered colour is Red and most scattered colour is Violet.
