Why does water has a very high heat capacity?

because in the water there is the high capacity of minerals that minerals are they can absorb the heat from very fastly and the water is in white colour there for the water can absorb heat at large quantity

It takes a lot of heatto increase the temperature of liquid waterbecause some of the heat must be used to break hydrogen bonds between the molecules
