Light does not split in air or vacuum because air or vacuum is not the medium in which they split.

And air to air medium is same.

They split when passed to high refractive index material.

  • The amount of bending is different for different wavelengths.
  • Because white light is made up of all visible wavelengths, its colors can be separated (dispersed) by this difference in behavior.
