the following actually what is the reason behind more rainfall in the windward slopes
we must know what actually windwards slopes and leeward slopes are:-

WINDWARD SLOPES:-
WINDWARD SLOPES OF MOUNTAINS ARE THESE SLOPES WHICH ARE IN THE DIRECTION OF THE PREVAILING WINDS.

these slopes are the ones which receive more rainfall simply because of the reason that the prevailing monsoon winds intersect at the windward slope of the mountains Hence shedding their moisture and bringing rainfaol that side.

LEEWARD SLOPES:-
LEEWARD SLOPES ARE THE SLOPES OF THE MOUNTAINS WHICH DO NOT RECEIVE RAINFALL AND ARE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE WINDWARD SLOPES.

leeward slopes do not receive rainfall because of the reason that they are present on the opposite sides of the direction of the prevailing winds and the prevailing winds don't intersect or touch the leeward side of a mountain rather they intersect at the windward side.

Hope this helps you:)

Much of airborne moisture falls as rain on the windward side of mountains. This often means that the land on the other side of the mountain (the leeward side) gets far less rain—an effect called a "rain shadow"—which often produces a desert.
