Explanation:

I have often noticed a similar case at my native place, but it happens with sparrows as opposed to crows. There is a great chance that there is a tree nearby where many crows gather around at night, as and when they start cawing, the solitary crows and their families nearby start cawing too. Similar cases are seen with bats and sparrows too. Most commonly this happens maybe because of any predator nearby. If there is no big gathering nearby, it is possible that a new dog or possibly some new animal has made an appearance in your locality, and is trying to fit in at night, but the crows are trying to warn others off ...or so it happens, the seasons are changing, that might be the reason for their agitation ...there are many more reasons for crows cawing at night... and if you believe, there are some paranormal reasons as well..so, you can never be sure why the crows are cawing at night..but, keep an eye out for a new stray animal in your locality, that is by far one of the most common reasons, sometimes they warn off against snakes or stray leopards too..so I would suggest you to be a little bit careful if they have started doing so recently ..if it has been going on for quite long, don't pay much attention to it, they're probably just having a family moment..apparently the wives are not so forgiving in the wild either.. :-P
