Why doesn't distilled water conduct electricity whereas tap water does? Explain. ​

Tap water conducts electricity while distilled water do not conduct electricity. This is because tap water contains salt and other acids and bases which are conductors, while distilled water do not contain acids, bases and salts.

Tap water contains dissolved salts in it.These salts dissociates into ions when electricity passed through it which are responsible for the electricity conductivity of tap water,but distilled water does not contain any dissolved salts so it does not conduct electricity.
