Kerosene does not catch fire when a stove is lit because a flammable liquid in its liquid state does not catch fire.

EXPLANATION:

It takes more than just kerosene for kerosene to catch fire. In other words, kerosene and oxygen are needed for kerosene to catch fire. When the stove is lit, the liquid kerosene is atomised and mixes with oxygen and only then catches fire and the stove gets lit.
