Why doesnot wet wood burns easily?

Now other things burn such as petrol, a nice wet liquid, because this also contains things that can react with the oxygen from the air. ... And each of those, combined with the oxygen to form carbon dioxide and, again, more water when the hydrogen part of the petrol combines with the oxygen.
