  • Gastric juice does not destroy stomach cells that make it because all these ingredients remain inactive until they are released into the lumen. Pepsinogen and HCl are first secreted into the lumen of the stomach. Hydrochloric acid converts the pepsinogen (inactive form) into pepsin.

the ph of HCl  in stomach is 1.8 (largely acidic) and so the stomach will damaged.

but this is not happening , because of the presence of numerous mucous secreting globlet cells in stomach lining and also due to the presence of fats
