Why dofarmers do not aply nitrogrnous fertiliser during cltivation of crops like green gram bengaj gram etc?

i think the answer is probably because gram is a leguminous plant these have relationship with rod shaped bacterium called rhizobium these form nodules in the root and fix atmospheric nitrogen. hope it helps
