Birds sitting on a electric wire do not get shock because of reasons which are listed below :

  • Firstly, a bird offers high resistance to current. When the bird sits on the electric wire, it forms a circuit with the wire , so the current passes through the wire instead of the bird. In easier way, we prefer going on a smooth road, neither on a road full of potholes.
  • Similarly , the current prefers taking the easier path, that is directly through wire. However, if the bird touches the wire , simultaneously with another wire, it would receive a mild shock.
  • And if it touches the wire and some other object connected to the ground, it would get a deadly shock.
