becoz its a displacement reaction, a more reactive metal can displace a less reactive metal from its salt solution. The reaction is often known as metaldisplacement reaction.

metals do not react with their salt because salts are formed by there own type it difficult for an atom to displaced same kind of atom form their salt as salt form by ionic bond
