Hi friend!!
Well, We all know about the movement of continental plates and have also heard about the supercontinent Pangea...right?
But later several portions of the continents got chipped off due to weathering and erosion ...
The continents broke apart and drifted off to various directions and in this way the process of splitting continued...
Some Coastal areas got gradually submerged too..further tectonic movements changed the shape of continents by forming mountains. ..
So, basically all the pieces of the great jigsaw puzzzle have jumbled up and now the present shapes of the continents can't fit perfectly into the supercontinent..!
Hope that helps you!
