We don't celebrate festivals after someone dies in order to pay respect to the death of that person and the people who loved him.

Why we should not celebrate festivals if someone dies?

A person who has lost his loved one will be sad and in pain. In such circumstances, as humans , it is unethical for us to celebrate festival. We should be there in the pain of others as humans. Human empathy is a virtue that needs to be practiced.

Hence, we should recognize that all festivals can be celebrated later. We should be kind and as humans skip those celebration if someone dies.
