Because of gravity and size of earth.

Gravity center is a point to which we feel to be pulled into all the time. If Earth was flat, we would feel like going uphill while going toward edge. Close to Antarctica it would be nearly vertical wall like surface. All the water would be in the center of flat earth.

The size of earth is so large and we are comparably so small that we have no way to see the earth curvature while standing on the ground… but it starts to be visible at 8-10 000 meters up.

There is no way how to feel roundness of earth.

If Earth was just 1km in diameter, you would clearly see that. But if the gravity was the same, you wouldn’t feel that you are walking around it either.
