Why don't we harness the energy of volcanoes?

Volcano power is based upon the massively heated molten rock that sometimes forces its way to the surface. As power sources they are too unpredictable. We do use geothermal energy where the molten rock comes close to but does not breach the surface unpredictably.
As a way of disposing waste. its not good. The volcano pretty much expels material.
Throwing waste into it would be like trying to pour bad stuff into a toilet that regularly overflowed when you tried to use it. You get twice the mess, one from the lava flow and two from the waste being expelled back at you.
